A Community-Invested History

Bedford Federal Savings Bank was organized September 20, 1926.

As a state-chartered loan and savings association, the founders named the bank, Bedford Rural Loan and Savings Association. The original bankers wanted a local institution to make mortgage loans as commercial banks did not make home mortgage loans in that era.

The first Bedford Federal bank opened in an insurance office, which was also the Masonic Temple. It was a humble beginning for Bedford Federal but over the years it expanded to include two locations near the original bank site. The ability to adapt to new banking technology while sustaining traditional values has kept generations of customers loyal to our bank. To learn more about our history, we invite you to Read More.

Since 1926, Bedford Federal Savings Bank has provided Bedford, Indiana and Lawrence County with leading-edge deposit and lending opportunities. We have also made a positive impact in the community through philanthropic and volunteer service. As we approach Bedfed's 100th birthday, we maintain our pledge to be a resource to the communities within Lawrence County as an independent mutual savings bank. We are committed to delivering the best in banking and investment products while helping our customers and community achieve their goals.

With appreciation for your business and friendship,
